The forecast is looking good for Thursday night.
Some rain may move in for Tuesday and Wednesday. But the forecast for Thursday is "sunny".

Tailgating is almost non-existent on the south end of Hanson Field.
There is some tailgating in Q-Lot. But not as much going on as there used to be.
Once again, it appears that the University has over-reacted.
Last year, I attended WESTERN road games at NIU and Illinois State. Both of them have extensive tailgating that makes Q Lot looks very miniscule. I suggest that we model our tailgating after theirs.
The students are not happy.
This Editorial was in Monday's (Sept 27th Western Courier):
Students dampened by restrictions!
WC Editorial Board
Issue date: 9/27/10 Section: Opinion
Tailgating has been a staple for Western Illinois Students and alumni as an important event in celebration of Homecoming Week. But the celebration at Saturday's game disappointed many.
The cold, wet weather severely hampered the event, but Western's new restrictive policies on tailgating were what really ruined this year's experience.
Western disallowed students from playing "loud" music on car stereos and forbade drinking games or anything that even resembled such.
Although students could still enjoy drinking on Q-Lot, many felt displeased. Students who reserved a spot in Q-Lot, paid $15 to take part in what has in the past been an extremely enjoyable experience.
If students had known Western was going to limit the tailgating experience, how many students would have opted to go somewhere else?
The restrictive policies certainly make returning students wary of coming back next year, and it seems as if the University has taken for granted student support during Homecoming.
"The Pit" was a wild environment a few years ago, perhaps too wild, which led Western to move the tailgating area to Q-Lot.
Families and kids who attended past Homecoming games at Hanson Field could see "The Pit," or N-Lot, in all its madness. The move to Q-Lot was intended to keep the students out of view of Macomb's families and kids during the game.
So, what's the problem with college students acting like college students if they're kept out of sight? If a student becomes too unruly, OPS officers can remove him or her from the premises, as there is certainly no shortage of officers present. With several OPS officers at the event, underage drinkers shouldn't be too hard to find, either.
If Western is going to restrict students as they did on Saturday, then they shouldn't charge them $15 for doing something they can do for free at a house or an apartment. If the University is going to charge students, it should allow the full tailgating experience allowed by other universities.
Additionally, it makes the University appear as if it is taking advantage of the students. Tailgating should not be seen as a privilege given to students, rather it is a privilege for the University to have students support the University and its football team.
The restrictive policies seemed to have hurt the student morale at the end of Homecoming Week. If the University wishes to have its students continue to embrace Homecoming Week, then it should continue to let the students have their fun.
Let's Go WESTERN!!

The people who write for the Courier are uneducated when it comes to campus issues. The tailgating policy was changed to create a culture of actual tailgating at WIU - not a 3 hour drinking party where 50% of the students stumble home instead of going to the football game.
The department does not make any money off of tailgating. The $15 goes towards covering the costs of having tailgating in that location. It was not meant to restrict students, rather allow them to spread out, cook food, hang out with friends, and go to the football game. It's not an instant fix, and it will take a few years to cycle out those students who just went to tailgating to drink. Look at almost any other university's tailgating policy - they charge. In fact, the committee creating WIU's new policies using many policies of school's in our conference.
The tailgating policies didn't ruin the homecoming experience...you can blame that one on the weather.

I'm going to agree with you, gonecks08. I was at tailgating in Q lot last year for homecoming and it was packed. And the permit fee was in effect then, too. I forgot that all the games so far have taken place in the rain.

in the late 90s early 00s people tailgated then went to the game.
in the late 00s people would tailgate then go home.
what changed that caused the students to just tailgate and not go to the game?
the teams was good in the late 90s early 00s. when they were bad people dont want to go watch their team get killed.
now the program looks to be getting better more people will tailgate then go to the games.
