One can only hope that he got more than money, and that there were ramifications on those who created this fiasco in the first place.

The only thing missing from the WGEM story is what the outcome will be for Tim Van Alstine and Gary Johnson.

Certainly there is enough there to terminate them both for cause.

I keep hoping that President Goldfarb will take corrective action soon and not leave it for the new, incoming President to handle next year.

I hope that everyone understands that with a settlement being reached, there is probably some type of gag rule that PREVENTS BOTH SIDES FROM COMMENTING. So all of you that like to stir things up, b****ing about not being able to get info from WIU or supposed comments from Patterson, for the sanity of all who read LeatherneckNation, just don't start. Unless there is an official statement that comes out, everything else will be just BS.

I hope you are right about Barr. Granted I did not see him much last year, but when I did, I was not impressed by his decision making ability.

Student-athlete grades have been higher than the student body's for many semesters in a row. The student-athlete overall semester GPA last semester was 3.19. There are no major student-athlete problems (crime issues). The massively, massively underfunded (with poor facilities) department wins 2-3 conference titles each year.

The court case was SETTLED. No guilt/liability was found (there was no verdict).

Where's your "cause" for firing Drs. Van Alstine and Johnson???

"Ethics Violation" = just cause

It was all that was needed to get rid of Biagini, and that wasn't NEARLY as big of a fiasco as this.

From Coach Patterson's public statement on August 2, 2010:

"The University’s Office of Equal Opportunity and Access conducted an internal investigation and concluded that I was the victim of discrimination."

That alone is more than enough "cause" for the immediate termination of Athletic Director Tim Van Alstine and Vice President Gary Johnson.

It is time for President Goldfarb to show some leadership and to take corrective action.
