Really good post Neckfansince71. Here is a link to Colin Powell's 13 rules on leadership. Number 13 is not a cure-all but it is worth consideration. I especially like his take on the ripple effect of attitude.

Perpetual optimism, is a force multiplier! No its not the answer to everything, but it can sure keep things going. I am also a big John Wooden fan. He accomplished so much and was not only a great coach, but a wonderful, thoughtful person. My favorite quote is, "failing to prepare is preparing to fail!" I still think Dr. G has done a good job piloting the goodship WIU through the tough economic waters he has encountered the last couple of years. Here's hoping the next president with some financial support can take his lead and move WIU to the next level.

NF71 - Coach VanVlyman would not be a great comparator to some of the other yahoo's we have. She is an excellent coach, and a very nice person from what I can tell. Glad you asked the recruit the questions and glad you got a good response. If only women's basketball and the leadership of the department had the same responses.
Know what you mean about the spell check. Very frustrating when that happens

WIU................The University broadcasts it's games on a 120 watt radio ! Now that's funny ! I agree with everything you've said; why doesn't anyone else listen ????????????????????? OH WAIT, I know the 120 watt radio could be why !!!! HA

A good comparison to why young women won't come to play basketball at Western Illinois now is like; why shoppers won't buy products made in China. It could be tainted and or poisoned , so why take a chance and go there !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
