Just posted on the Summitt League Website:
Western Illinois' Holly Van Vlymen was named Coach of the Year after guiding her team to its second consecutive regular season title with a 19-2 record.
The Leathernecks claimed a league-high four first team selections led by pitcher Kamren Ferguson, who won 13 games and struck out 100 with a 1.42 ERA in league games. A trio of WIU position players were named to the first team including third baseman Julie DePolo (.356, 3 HR, 23 R, 5 SB) and outfielders Colleen Biebel (.373, 13 R) and Beth Golitko (.338, 4 HR, 13 RBI).
The softball team is the only WIU team that captured a regular-season conference championship.
Give them heck at the tournament, too, Coach V! We'll be cheering you on! The women start tournament play against SDSU at 10 am. The SID does regular Twitter updates during the games, so check it out!
