That was Sprayberry's brother that had the infection.

Maybe Tyler Carey needs to work on his academics? I have seen in the past where some players will be taken off the roster and then appear a year later. Or maybe he is injured? Kreczmer was off the roster for a while too at one point.

It still hurts to lose younger players like that though. I did expect this to happen a little though. Even when the team was going good, you have players transfering in and out.

The team just really needs to crank out an 8-3 season in the worst way to stabilize the program. I'd say that without Barr's injury last year, the team would've been about 5-6. They are not your typical 1-10 team.

I meant the coaching fiasco last season

I am not disagreeing with the direction... it just concerns me when people leave. I noticed on the roster that there are 40+ sophomores, and only 2 redshirt freshmen. This seems strange. Did all the true freshmen play last year? It seems like MH is mortgaging the future on next year, because it is imperative for the program to win now in order to get the program as a whole back on track. While this might be a little questionable, I can't say I disagree with it right now.

I can feel a positive vibe finally coming from the football program. I am anxious to see what Mark can do.

One more thing! If DP had not had cancer and the team once again hovered around 500, do you think he would still be around on February 3rd, 2010?

For leatherneck177 and StLouisNecks: Your posts concerning players that left made me curious so I went back to last year's roster to the last game that DP was coaching. Some of the these guys left before the end of last year, but all of the following were junior standing or less last year and therefore should be on this year's roster. Here are the guys that are gone:
Ben Schneider DB,Fr.
Larry Shelton DB, R-Fr.
Brennan Parks DB, Fr.
Duck Lowrance DB, Fr.
Darien Williams DB, Fr.
Justin Hamilton DB, Jr.
Chad Spraybery OL, R-Fr.
Derek Shay OL, Fr.
Brandon Dixon OL, So.
Brad Defreitas OL, Fr.
Abe Koroma DL, Jr.
Andrew Briones LB, So.
Joe Gill QB, Fr.
Brian Hackett P/K, R-Fr.
D'Anthony Joboam RB, Fr.
Cornell Rice RB, Fr.
Tyler Carey TE, R-Fr.
Justin Rideau WR, Jr.

Interesting huh? Go 'Necks!

Thanks Football Fan. It's obvious that several people no longer want to be associated with this program. I believe there will be other coaches leave as well in addition to Frisman. Interesting that a .500 season under Coach P is unacceptable but a .000 season is okay and some are enthusiastically waiting for next year.

Please keep in mind that the "coaching fiasco" was completely and totally created by the AD and that Coach P played no role in this disaster whatsoever, contrary to what some posters seem to indicate, other than to be unlawfully dismissed from his position. Records do not matter, recruiting does not matter; the law matters. And if you don't think so, stay tuned.

I would like to point out the Frisman Jackson was a Graduate Assistant coach, not full time. He did earn his masters degree and is moving on with his career in Akron. This is something people should be excited about, not dwelling on or reading into that he is making a statement. For a former NFL player to come back to his alma mater, take on a graduate assistant position, it says a few things. One being that this guy wants to be a coach, and two that he was willing to give something back to a school that gave him something as a young man. Let's not drag someone like Frisman into the fiasco that has been silent for almost a month now.It is a legal manner and banter on here about the issues of DP vs. Western will come out once the courts get moving on it, and that could take a while.

WIU58, I respect your stance alongside DP. My personal feelings are very split on the manner based on what I have heard out of both camps, so I will play the waiting game and see who comes out on top. But again, let's not drag current coaches who have a job to do into it all, regardless of our feelings towards administration. Players leave teams all the time. When things go bad, ala a 1-win season, you can bet that the believers are going to be quickly separated from talkers. We've seen it with people on this board and the players are people just like us. A few players were most likely dismissed from the team, that is a sad reality that happens year in and year out for college football.

I think the current staff did a good job of addressing immediate needs. It would have been nice to see a few more h.s. signees, but let's think about 2010 before we start our plans for 2011, 2012 and so on. I'm anxious to see how these JUCO's pan out along with Ray. They will be given a chance to play so we'll see how good they really are.
