Coach Mo Quote "We have fighters out there" and "We have great guys" Well it looks like we need better fighters and guys with a mean streak. Great guys are just not cutting it. Still winless in Summit play. Looks like another fine year for Leatherneck basketball, well least they are keeping the tradition going.

This is the Summit League, not the ACC. Any team can step it up and knock off any other team on their own home court. Yes, we don't have a win to show for it, but our defense has kept us within reach of winning every one of those games. Little things can and do make a big difference between a loss and win (missed rebound here, turnover there, etc.) Take a look at the standings. We held a considerable lead over SDSU which is now the number two team in the conference standings. We are one win away from getting to the top eight, which if we achieve that would be quite an accomplishment in my opinion because we lost our two best scorers from last year. To think this year was not going to be a bit of a struggle is not realistic. I don't know if shooters are born or can be made but we do have some work to do to improve offensively for sure. One thing Coach Mo said last year still rings in my mind. We don't have a lot of guys who can create their own shot. Even more true this year. But the little things can make a difference here as well (e.g. a solid pick instead of just sort of going through the motions can lead to some better looks). I for one have not given up on these guys just yet. Gotta take care of business at home from here on out though and win the games we should win, starting with Centenary on Thurs. Go Necks!

I doesn't matter how big of a lead you had or how well your defense played. If you don't come away with a "W" those two things I mentioned do not matter. I think our goals should be higher than the 8th spot in the Conference. Two many fans settle for mediocrity which has been a long tradition of the basketball program and is now turning over to our Football program. We should hold our AD's, Coaches and players to higher standards. I do not want to see Football & Basketball program continue to slide. Remember all of us are held accountable at our jobs.

We should pick up our first conference win on Thursday vs Centennary.

Then we have the big women's & men's double-header games with Oral Roberts on Saturday. Oral Roberts has become our biggest rival in all sports other than football.

It's too bad that this big double-header will be played while the students are still away on semester break. The spring semester will start on Jan 19th.

So we will need the Macomb community to show up and make some noise for the big games vs Oral Roberts!

Let's Go WESTERN !!
