Al Miksis played for the Waterloo Hawks of the NBA in 1950.

Chuck Schramm was drafted by the Celtics in the 3rd round in 1953.

Joe Dykstra was drafted by the Phoenix Suns in the 9th round in 1983. I went to school with Joe, and he was phenomenal. He once held the NCAA record of 64 consecutive made free throws.

On Football Reference.com there are 38 WIU players who have been on an NFL roster. We have listed only a partial list here so far.

Rodney Harrison did NOT graduate from WIU and left early for pro career. Rodney was not a model student or person. He was kicked off the basketball team for conduct unbecoming a student athlete or something like that. NO ONE shed a tear when he left early from WIU.

Well, he attended and competed at Western. That's all I'm trying to do - compile a comprehensive list of former Neck student-athletes!
