5 who were on the roster at the beginning of the season last year as non-seniors did not come back, 2 graduated, 6 returned.

8 new faces this year, 1 frosh and 7 juco transfer juniors. And it looks like Christina Jones, while returning, had to give up her number 15 as she's listed as #10 while a juco transfer from Sweden is listed at #15.

As a bright point, we do have 2 international kids (Sweden and Lithuania). Zane and other foreign players were key to our 4-peat (2003, 2004, 2005, 2006).

Let's hope not only for a better season that last year's (10-19 last year, including 6-12 in conference) and an improved ROI, up from (2 grad + 6 return)/(13 start of season) = 61.5%

I was hoping the Pastor from Gainesville,Florida was going to burn Leslie Cranes new contract along with copies of the Quran but, I heard the President called him and now he's only going to burn her contract .

When Coach Crane had that run with Zane, did she apply for other jobs? Did other schools come calling?

I'm wondering because most coaches use Western as a stepping stone job. They do well here and then move onto other schools.

She can't recruit anyone in Illinois because the "word" has gotten out; so she goes back to Kansas to recruit because that's where she came from ! Just look at the girls she's got on the team, no one stays. We should be loaded with Juniors and seniors by now, instead of JUCO players from Kansas.

Blueliner,
What I had heard is that she was seriously in the running for a position, I believe in OK, but when Zane's teach and an ORU's head connected and Zane lost a tooth in the conference tourney, Leslie's outburst to the media put end to that job search. In fact, her outburst was even on ESPN where the broadcaster's pointed out that it was not intentional on the part of the ORU player who Crane accused of being a dirty player and ORU a dirty team.

I'm think Crane has finally figured out that the fans aren't happy. At least that's my take I why she has decided to relate several of the new players to past limelight players.

On the roster bio pages:
#32 Brittany Demery, 6'0" juco xfer from OK: "rebounding skills will remind our fans of Tiffany Cornelius."
#15 Rebecca Henricson, 5'6" junior from Sweden: "will be an exciting player to watch much like Erica Zielinski was."
#24 Sadie Webb, 5'11" juco xfer from KS: "a tough player that will remind our fans of Becky Tyo."

And during the FB half-time radio show, Crane added a 4th horseman.

#42 Rachel Evans, 6'3" freshman from IN: "will remind fans of Zane."

I want to know which one of this years players remind her of Katie, Lindsey, Lindy, Sarah, Katie, ...I think you get the gist if you've been following the thread.

Good point ! I can't wait for the first game ! I wonder if she'll remember me in the stands going " don't run the weave again " ! HA Hopefully her Dad has came up with some new plays this year. Maybe they will call it the "Kansas weave", since most of her players are from there !
