Fans by their nature want to be supportive of the team: both by attending the games and also supporting the team during the game.

I have been going to Western Basketball games since the days of Regina Miller for the women and Jack Margenthaler for the men.

Let's Go WESTERN !!

712, 56, WWD et al. The shadow knows that the best defense is a good offense. Hmmm, Daddy looks like a shadow standing up on the balcony now doesn't he?

I agree that the women have had more success in their last couple of games and believe that others including myself have noted that small spark. The reality of it is that we are winning against teams we are supposed to win against which will lead us to 8th place in the sorry *** excuse of a conference we belong too and a mismatch in the tournament come March. I don't think people on the DISCUSSION BOARD have really dissed the players. Critiqued their skills or performance at times, yes but this whole thread has primarily been about poor, unjustifiable management and abusive coaching. Bullying people on a message board doesn't change the facts. We haven't had a winning season in how long? Attendance is down. Transfers are up. Assistant coaches are a revolving door. Offense is not productive and defense is weaker than we've seen in years.

If memory serves me, Nero fiddled while Rome was burning and the rest of the public ran for their lives. Keep on fiddling White Shadow. You're off key but like everyone else here, welcome to have your say.

Lokal Yokal , FAN 56 and WIU 712 know what's going on !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What's the saying, "The truth will set you free" ? Carry on the torch ! Everything that I've ever said in this forum is the truth, I've just tried to add a little humor to the facts !
Due to the continuing investigation by the NCAAA into this matter and with me having to wear a "hidden wire" to the meetings with the people in question, I was advised................... ( told to close my pie hole). HA. "Sorry, no further comments will be made by me.

"Good luck girls in the tournament" !!!!

P.S. The White Shadow and former player, you don't know "JACK SHIT" !

Women's basketball is the best !

First off…I am no one's Daddy, so you can stop worrying about that. Second…why are you so afraid of an old guy in the balcony. Abusive coaching? Really? With all the coaches around the country getting in trouble for "going to far" with their players, if there were abuse it would have been reported. I will not dispute any of your facts regarding the WBB team, as long as we agree that the same can be said of other programs at WIU. How can you be bullied on a discussion board. I did not know that was even possible. Thank you for clearing up the fact about what happened to Rome and Nero….that had been bothering me. Also, thanks for allowing me to have my say.

As for WWD…nice language. You did a nice job of showing your education level there, pal…It's good to know we won't hear from you anymore...but…you're right…I don't know Jack Schitt…but I did some research and, thanks to my genealogy efforts, I can now respond in an intellectual way.

Jack Schitt is the only son of Awe Schitt.
Awe Schitt, the fertilizer magnate, married O. Schitt, the owner of Needeep N. Schitt, Inc. They had one son, Jack.
In turn, Jack Schitt married Noe Schitt. The deeply religious couple produced six children: Holie Schitt, Giva Schitt, Fulla Schitt, Bull Schitt, and the twins Deep Schitt and Dip Schitt. Against her parents' objections, Deep Schitt married Dumb Schitt, a high school dropout. After being married 15 years, Jack and Noe Schitt divorced.
Noe Schitt later married Ted Sherlock, and because her kids were living with them, she wanted to keep her previous name. She was then known as Noe Schitt Sherlock. Meanwhile, Dip Schitt married Loda Schitt, And they produced a son with a rather nervous disposition named Chicken Schitt. Two of the other six children, Fulla Schitt and Giva Schitt were inseparable throughout childhood and subsequently married the Happens brothers in a dual ceremony. The wedding announcement in the newspaper announced the Schitt-Happens nuptials. The Schitt-Happens children were Dawg, Byrd, and Horse. Bull Schitt, the prodigal son, left home to tour the world. He recently returned from Italy with his new Italian bride, Pisa Schitt. Now when someone says, 'You don't know Jack Schitt,' you can correct them.

And that is what I have done! You stand corrected!

Former Player…it was nice to see you post again. Stay strong and purple to the "Corps".

OK, maybe he doesn't know Jack Schitt.

Maybe the shit was in The Shadows and he didn't see it, when he stepped in it ?

Who made you king of the forum ?

Your right WIU02. I mistyped. the "I" and "U" are right next to each other. I guess spell check didn't catch it.

If that is the only thing you take exception to in my posts then at least you have some common sense which is something that is in short supply both in here and in RT.

As for attendance, I travel all over the country and I can see down numbers everywhere. Money, team performance, or coaching hijinks...whatever the reason...it is down all over not just at WIU.

I guess finishing all 4 years and supporting the program the 6 years after that means I don't know anything.

My bad.

P.S. It is the NCAA not NCAAA

Yes, many of us have expressed our frustrations with the way the women's basketball program seems to be going. I don't see anything wrong with being concerned that players are leaving mid-stream and/or being dismissed from the team, nor the fact that except for Todd, the assistant coaching position as been somewhat of a revolving door. From my standpoint, it is not the fact that the team is having a rough season this year. What I am concerned about it the public image that Coach Crane presents when she is stomping on the floor and berating her players. Add to that the reports of verbally abuse behavior in the locker room, during practice, etc., I think it is reasonable that there is a concern that she is not standing for the Higher Values in Higher Education principles of Western Illinois University. As fan's, we want to see the girls getting better throughout their careers, and unfortunately, that hasn't seemed the case recently.

White Shadow, funny, very funny I have to say. I've seen it before but the story of the Schitt family never fails to entertain. I'm not worried nor do I care who you are. I always found those threads on boards silly. Next time I'll note the sarcasm. I also don't have a problem looking at some of the other programs that need a close look. Volleyball would be the one to start with and we'll see what happens with football. Despite all the hype and media over the last few years, I don't believe the baseball team did that well. There are also successful programs given the poor leadership. Soccer x 2, softball, tennis, men's golf, and elements of track and field. These programs have grown and been somewhat successful in our crappy excuse of a conference. Focus on the leadership/management and you have my beef. When will we hold the administration accountable?

Dear WIU02,

Thank you for the English and typing lesson. I sincerely appreciate your input. Again, if that is the only thing you can fault me for, then I am truly blessed. I will be the first to admit that my grammar and typing skills are far from perfect. It is probably a good thing I do not make my living that way. However, this is a sports forum, not an English class, so grammatical and syntax errors aside, I think most people got the gist of what I was saying.

To Women's B-Ball Fan,

No one is trying to be king of the forum. Just chiming in with a different point of view. I am a person who despises negativity. Our world has enough of it as it is. I like to have discussions that present a problem, mash up all the different answers that are given, and come out with a solution that can be put into action. That being said…I will still check my boots at the door next time to be sure I didn't step in anything.

To Fan 56 and Lokal Yokal,

I agree that there are many things to be concerned about in the WBB program as well as others. I can sense and understand your frustrations. WIU is not in a great position, from a conference or a geographical stand point, to win many of the recruiting battles. This was not always the case so we need to look at what has changed. The school has not moved. The conference may have changed or been renamed or whatever but I do not think this is the major reason. Some of the coaching staff has moved on. Others have not, but again the coaches that remain or come in still face the same recruiting issues. My guess is that there has been a fundamental change in the kids being recruited. With all the glitz and glam that is available at some other places, Macomb may not be very attractive. Now do not crucify me in here for running down Macomb. I am not doing that. I grew up in a town very much like Macomb and I still consider it home. However, we need to understand that recruiting to a town like Macomb makes the type of kid you go after a very specific one. They have to make the grades, they cannot be a trouble maker, they have to personable, they have to be willing to sacrifice some of the bright lights they are being sold by the other schools and come to a smaller, tight knit community. This is not for everyone especially a local sports hero with stars in their eyes!

Ok…now…with all that out of the way. I do feel there are good people at WIU. Staff, faculty, and administration. I do not think we are looking at a complete overhaul in any way. Do a few changes need to be made? Definitely. Does that start at or near the top? Probably. Will there be some collateral damage to coaching staff? Possibly. A change of scenery works wonders on the soul. New energy or outlooks provide renewed vigor to any stale situation. Also, new personnel are warmly greeted and efforts to make them successful abound. Things could get better…or worse…but they
will change. Whatever happens, the WBB team gets bounced in the first round of the tourney, the football team goes 0-11, or the softball team finishes 5th, WIU is what we have. Be active AND proactive to make it the best we can.

I am off my soap box now and willing to take my bashing! Thank you all for providing me the opportunity to express myself.

PS. I hope their our not two manny mistakes's in my postiting. :-)
