CoSIDA- College Sports Information Directors of America- have their Academic All-Americans list out. This is through 2006-07 year. This is a total by Division. I don't know how long they have kept this ranking/listing.( It's what schools have had the most Academic All- Americans.)
D-1
1) Nebraska
2) Notre Dame
3) Penn State
4) Stanford
D-2
1) Pitt State ( beat out Truman this year with two football academic All-Americans)
2) Truman State
3) Abilene Christian
4) University of North Dakota
9) South Dakota State University- had them listed D-2. I guess they were still in the transition period for this ranking, and time period.
By Sport
Southern Illinois-C was # 2 in softball.
Northern Illinois was # 7 in softball .
Seemed Illinois Wesleyan and Augustana College (IL) had a noticeable presence on the list. A tough list to get on, but, one that demonstrates academic excellence.
