One of the television stations in Quincy reporting Coach Patterson has cancer of the tonsils. Good news- it's very treatable. Will begin treatments immediately. He will likely miss a few early games. Coach Hendrickson is currently in charge of the program

Prayers with Coach Patterson.

It's on the WIU Athletics web site

I talked to Dwaine Roche about an hour ago. He was in CA seeing a new grandchild but said Tim called this morning before the staff and media were made known of it. If I can, I want to go down to the hospital in Iowa City after the surgery Monday if they will allow it.

Coach DP is a warrior and our leader. He will come out on top, for that I have ZERO doubt. I will state also that I will pray for Don. I don't say that ever! Because, I think to a large degree it has become a comment people make in a derogatory way standing from imaginary high ground (Absolutley, not making reference to any people on this board).

My religion is my business but I can say without hesitation my resolve to appeal to a higher power on DP's behalf is a genuine heart felt overture.

Go DP go 'Necks.

I talked to Coach Hendrickson last night. Coach P is having a "procedure" done tomorrow at Iowa City. Not sure which wing of the University of Iowa Hospital he will be in but it is in the Department of Otolaryngology.

Coach Hendrickson said Coach P will start radiation and Chemo on July 28th five days per week for seven weeks. Coach P and Lisa will be staying in Iowa City during the week. 95% of the time this cancer is assoicated who a smoker or "chewer", neither of which Coach P has ever done.

I talked to Lisa Patterson on the way home from work today. Coach P had a "procedure" completed today. Tomorrow he will meet with oncologists. They are "optimistic" of starting treatments on July 28th. As of now the plan is for radiation every day with only a few chemo treatments. They will obviously know more before the treatments commence.
