| The Campbell twins helped us win several more games then they ever lost. The hypocrisy on this board is incredible. When Randy Ball was very successfully putting together championship teams with "rejects" and "troubled kids" everybody thought it was the greatest thing since sliced bread. Believe it or not, not all 18 to 22 year old young men make the exactly right decision at every moment in their life. And believe it or not some of these young men grow up in an environment that does very little teaching in the way of what is and is not acceptable. The opportunity to come to college, and work with people of different backgrounds can make a tremendous difference in their behavior and ultimately their life. I played with a lot of guys that would have been considered "troubled kids" at one time or another in their life. Many of them are now living productive lives and are solid citizens because they were given the opportunity to come to Macomb and see a different way of living and interacting with others. We (WIU football players) have historically made some bonehead mistakes, and have been appropriately punished and chastised for doing that. However one of the great results of our program over the last 20 years is the number of quality men that have been turned out due to the effort of their teammates and coaches. While everyone is entitled to their opinion, however misinformed it might be, I cannot sit by and let character attacks on former Leathernecks go unanswered. We have all made mistakes, plenty of them, but their have been very few bad character kids that stuck with the program to the end of their eligibility. Most of the scumbags are run off by other players long before they get to the end. We are all Leathernecks and it serves no productive purpose in assassinating any former player's character on this board.
