Are there any tiles under the field? If not there should be.
Engineering-wise there are things that can be done to remove water from the playing field. If, however, a field is plotted out on a flood plain and no counter measures are made to off set the water saturation that is inevitable then the people in charge of this playing field arrangement should be considered fools.
Now I know little ol' Western does not have the resources of a pro minor league ball team but, O'brein Field in Peoria can drain massive quantities of water from their field after rain has just soaked it and be ready to play in short order.

The bottom line for the cancellation of both the baseball and softball games with Bradley on Tuesday is that the fields were not covered. Yet rain was in the forecast.
Unbelievable!
