Leathernecknation is very excited about matching up with the powerhouse "HOGS"
We like the exposure and the competition and, yes, feel like we are comming to your house to win. We have never beat a BCS school so we are not delusional to know the odds are against us.
R-Back Athletics are sick, I live in Peoria IL and our Profesional team only averages 4,000 a game for baseball, don't y'all average over 7,000 a game for college?

Well I know that we play Western Ill. for the first football game but I do not think that we play them in baseball.

Seriously, though, I hope however many travel from Macomb, Illinois (or Peoria or wherever else) have a nice trip and a great time in Fayetteville, minus the three hours when their team is getting turned into hamburger on the field.

They had between 10-15k fans at home games last year. It IS almost cute to hear them talk about us. But hey, I respect a fan for being a fan.
I hope they have a great time up on the hill.
One of the posts mentioned they wanted to see plenty of purple at the stadium. I have no doubt that the most purple that will be seen will be from the bruises on their players and their egos.

Ache, he was talking about 7,000 for baseball. He was comparing our college baseball attendance to Peoria's minor league team's attendance. Good grief, these people aren't stupid; they know how many people go to BCS conference football games. The man lives in Illinois, for goodness' sake.
If he comes back, let's treat him with a little class. He isn't blowing smoke; he knows they don't have much shot of winning.
Besides, with the beating their boys will take on the field, it would just be cruel to give their fans a hard time, too.
I don't know anything about W. Illinois. Are they a good I-AA (or championship subdivision or whatever they're trying to make us call it now) team? I doubt they compare to App. State - those guys are like the LSU of I-AA.

I have a friend from Dekalb and he says that Western has never really been very good to his knowledge...
But he is a Northern Ill. fan and does really keep up with them.

Huh. That's weird. Maybe I'm just not familiar enough with the world of I-AA to understand, but that make no sense to me.
I don't get why we have to play these I-AA teams anyway. Is there no one in division I-A that we can play? Our scheduling is so stupid. We either play guys like USC that kill us, or pansies that drop our computer numbers no matter if we win or not.

I musta had A.D.D. there a little bit, I was talking about us matching up with you guys in football and then I made a reference to comparing Peoria's single A Cubs affiliate to your baseball team.
You guys really pack the house there with 70,000+ boisterous HOG fans for football.
A little info on Western Illinois Univeristy:
Enrollment: 13,400
Located in Macomb: 20,000
Mascott: bulldog (rocky)
Nickname: Leathernecks
Stadium: Hanson Field (cap.16,368)
Averge Attendance: 12,600
Conference: Gateway D-1(FCS)
I am really looking forward to commming to fayetteville. Should be a great football atmosphere.
Oh, by the way Western Illinois Has beat Northern Illinois the last 3 times we have played them. The over all record does favor NIU though with a 20-17 series history against the Leathernecks.

I did not see any post blasting the Leatherneck fan. I did not see anyone whose opinions deserved the notoriety a couple of guys gave them. Hogbeast, do you eat your young?
I'll give the Illinois guy his space, and be kind to him. I'll even feed him if he's hungry and down and out. But, this is a Razorback board. I reserve the right to express my opinion, without being corrected by some of the surrogate "mama hawgs" on here.

Justcheckin, you will love visiting NW Arkansas. It's a great place to see and experience. You will also get to see what first class athletic facilities look like. Your football team will also become the first victim of the Bobby Petrino era in Razorback football.
