WIU host Oral Roberts tonight and Centenary on Saturday for final home game before they go to IUPUI, Oakland, & IPFW. I see good chance of beating Centenary and outside chance of IPFW. That puts us up against ??? in first round of Summit league Tourney. What do you folks think our final record will be "if"this is the last year of "DT Era" ? I say 12 - 18 at worst and 14 - 17 at best. Hope we win out and win the Tourney, but realistically what do you fans think ? If WIU wins 1 more game, would be most ever by a "DT Team" during his 5 year tenure at WIU.

I was impressed with the Necks last night, they put up a valiant effort against the league's best team. If they could have gotten a defensive stop late who knows what might have happened.
I see them beating Cent., then who knows they probably lose to IUPUI, but I think they can beat Oakland and IPFW, but I'm afraid they will lose all 3 on the road.

The next four games, 3 regular season and 1 tournament, the Necks will go 1-3 and DT will be gone two days later if he is not already! I think the only thing that could have saved him was a conference title. I don't think even a bid to the NCAA's can do the trick. Too little, too late! Poor fan support, lack of interest, just not what the university needs at this point in time!

As you can see from responses... only 3 WIU Men's B-ball fans so far left to even give an assesssment of WIU as the season ends. That is how few fans come too.

Hi to all,
Thought I would throw in my two cents. I went to my first WIU game last night. I broadcast high school sports and FINALLY had a free night. WIU played well at times but then struggled at times. Oh well, a W is a W. Good (not great) sized crowd and atmosphere-as a recent WIU Grad, they need to figure out better ways to get students to come. WIU should beat IPFW and may win a game in the tourney, depending on seeding. I respect the effort that Coach Thomas has put into the program and as a person. This is not an easy job to do. However, I expected more progress in 5 years. Dr. VanAlstine needs to get on the horn quickly to find a quality coach (does he happen to have access to Bobby Knight's cell # ) Might be a bit of a long shot but if Knight has a few years left, I think he could make it work and would put WIU on the map!! All kidding aside, not sure who would be a good coach.

Good vocal crowd at Saturday night's mens game.
WESTERN could win their first Conference game if they can get into either the #4 or #5 spot.
One WESTERN. All Leathernecks !!
Go Leathernecks !!

Well .. I guess we start finding out tonight at IPFW. I'll be a tough game for sure -- and the rest of the road games we're not favored in. Am hoping the decent showings at home will give Western some confidence. Even in their loss to ORU, they showed they can play with one of the elite teams of the conference.

Western finishes the year:
Win at IPFW
Loss at Oakland
Loss at IUPUI
Win at Tulsa
Loss at Tulsa
Finish the Season at 14-17. Still not a winning campaign, but twice as many wins as previous years.
