I'm sure former WIU & Mo. State Coach Randy Ball loved this victory even more than us as he is an Asst. Coach for Drake this year. Isn't Drake a non-scholarship football program like Valpo in something called the Pioneer League ?

| Yes, they are a limited 1AA scholarship program like Valpo. Really only offer football at this low level so they can basically be D1 for basketball! Most of these schools- like Valpo- are basically one sport schools-ie Basketball. ( yes, they offer other sports)but, the only one they really care about is basketball. Support for other sports is generally low.

| Former head coach Rob Ash built a strong non-scholarship IAA program at Drake before he left this spring for a nice opportunity in Montana. He and his staff recruited well in Iowa and Midwest. Lots of kids out there under the radar who can play! Most importantly they learned to play smart with unity, fire, and heart. Not a shock to me they upset Illinois State. Don't know anything about their new head coach but obviously he, Randy Ball, et al, know what they are doing. I expect we will see that program continue to rise.
