| Hopefully he didn't arive in Macomb and see what a mess he would have to clean up. I'm sure he was aware of that. I'm hoping he didn't think the mess was way bigger than he anticipated.

| Considering he never saw the players on or off the field, I doubt that was the problem. WIU was just a convenient way to leverage his way out of his old job, knowing that he was going south before he even took the job at WIU.

The troubling thing to me is not that the newly hired Defensive Coordinator resigned suddenly for "personal reasons". That happens in life. What really troubles me is this: If I go to the official athletic site, I find no press release there about it as of this moment in time. Nor do I find any press release in the archives announcing his hiring in the first place. If there was one in the archives, was it removed for some reason? Or, and I hope this is not the case, but maybe there was an oversight and no announcement of his hiring was ever posted there and he felt slighted? Now maybe things have to happen this way being so close to signing day, but if that is the case, it just does not sit too well with me. Thank God for the McDonough Voice and other media sites for keeping things in the open so we and the rest of the world can attempt to make sense of it all. There (as of this moment), you will find an announcement about the initial DC hiring, a nice interview with him, and the resignation announcement today.
Leathernecks prevail or die hard!

The more I think about it, the more I think something just doesn't add up here...
I doubt the official story is the real story.

Agree with StLouN. and Catch212. This guy knew his situation. This guy knew first better offer for his situation that came around he was going to stick it to WIU.
Classy.
How bout? "Thank you for offering me the position, but, in good conscious I can not accept, because I know other obligations in my life will prevent me from doing this job at this time for this program".

Kevin Corless has shown that his word means nothing.
He must think that people in west-central Illinois are dumb hayseeds who will believe anything.
His reason for leaving (ailing in-laws) cannot be a new development.
I think that we all know what the real reason for his backing-out of his contract: he was offered a "better" position at Georgia Southern.
Georgia Southern just finished 3rd in the FCS. They made it to the semi-finals and hosted two playoff games. Their stadium is much nicer than Hanson Field.
I am hearing that we will be gettiing an in-coming freshman in the fall that will be competing for quarterback. Sounds like he will be in the running for the starting spot.
Let's Go WESTERN!!

They did have an offical press relase on the website and I know it was still on their yesterday.
According to his interview, I think he said he was out recruiting in the Chicago area he first days on the job.
I don't know if a defensive position job at Ga Southern is a better job than the DC job at Western. I wouldn't think so, unless Ga Southern pays more. I agree he had to know he had ailing in-laws when he accepted the job. Anyway time to move on and hope Coach does get someone else hired asap.
