Seems like the women's games are always short-changed from an attendance perspective. I think the conference should alternate starting times for the Men's and Women's Saturday games to try to even it out a bit.

sealhall74 (1/7/2012) I think the conference should alternate starting times for the Men's and Women's Saturday games to try to even it out a bit.
It's been a while ago, but I can remember one double-header at Western Hall where the men played first.
After the men's game ended, I would say that 90% of the crowd left.
At least by having the men's game come second, the crowd for the women's game tends to get bigger in the 2nd half as the crowd coming in for the men's game does arrive early.
That late-arriving crowd is probably not counted in the "official attendance".

I think they alternate starting times in the Ohio Valley. Or at least they did a few years back. Don't know if they continued the practice....

After more thought, I retract my alternating schedule idea. I don't like anything scripted. Instead, make each moment count. If the women have earned a "marquee" matchup (i.e. big conference showdown like what the Men have on Thursday), then their game should certainly be moved to the later slot. This gives both teams some extra incentive to ALWAYS be fighting to earn that better time slot. Most people will stick around if the game is of any importance in the conference. Not sure how easy it is to switch game times on short notice, but I know they do it all the time when TV scheduling comes into play.

| Switching times at the last minute would seem to have implications on team travel, as well as travel for the officials.

Schedule would be known no later than Friday am. Teams come in to town on Friday so no problem with them. Officials may be an issue if air travel is involved. Anyway, something to consider.
