Here is some advice from a Bradley fan on how to improve Western Hall. I like his idea.

From bradleyfans.com

I actually think WIU's Western Hall has potential. They need to re-vamp the lower part to be more of a bowl type seating.... that would make 2K to 2.5K nice seats. Forget about the upper portion, until the fan base is re-built.

I think we're lucky to have him. Sure, his tenure hasn't started that well but there's no doubt he's turning this thing around. Look at the freshman and Juco transfers we have this year. If this team could win the Summit League tourney and make the big dance, well, I think Macomb would explode. It will only take the first appearance before the fan base and student body goes crazy for Leatherneck basketball.

As for Western Hall, I think we can make the best of it. Winning and packing the house nightly will make it look a whole lot better. Plus, you're sitting right on top of the court in the lower bowl which is a huge advantage if the people there are actually loud.

We should explore re-configuring the lower portion of Western Hall into a bowl. That would improve sight lines.

We can put renovating the dismal balconies as the next major project. But let's get the lower part fixed up soon.

Coach Mo = Stop gap

BU people don't all like Mo, that is for sure. He was ushered out of there for playing a grind out D style of hoops that wasn't ever elite in the MVC... deja vu results here deff but with a lower standard so no job worries.

We were a program in complete emberassment regionally and nationally after Thomas so we hired a nice guy that can coach a team up to a competitive level. I am sorry but I don't see us ever winning the SL regular season or tourny with him. It would take a very big personality to bring in good enough players which is not his style.

What his hire did was allow us to approach far better canidates after his tenure. Refs, teams, coaches, etc didn't respect us due to the former Thomas's poor leadership so we are just taking the time to address that.

Also, BU fans didn't mention anything I didn't see us already saying about Western Hall. The gym looks fine full (so rarely) but people need to think about the arms race we face from other competitors. Jazz it up all you want but elite talent at our level will likely skip out due to personality and facility. I like where we are going but am I the only one that feels this way about the hire etc?

Go Leathernecks.......

Derek Thomas left us with a big mess. It has taken a while to clean that up. But we are making progress.

And Kerwin left Thomas with a mess.

Sorry, but I would have much rather seen a go getter with exciting BBall come in, something like JD is going (in fact already is) to do for the Women.

Winning ball > exciting ball

I don't care how they have to do it, just win. That's exactly where we're headed with Mo. I'm glad we have him.

As as BU and WIU fan I will say this... Coach Mo was eventually let go from Bradley for a couple of reasons but 1 that trumps them all.. towards the end of his tenure he simply didnt win enough. Coach Mo did great things for BU and had he left after his 6th season (coming off 3 NIT's and an NCAA) he would be looked at as one of the best BU coaches ever. Unfortunatley after that, a few players left and one season they drastically underachieved. In college bball that is all it takes.

That being said I love the direction he is taking WIU and think he can have the necks consistantly in the top half in the league and having a chance to win the tournament on a semi regular basis.
