1. It seems like we have way too many "Security/Event Staff" in the Q-Lot tailgating area.

I went over to our game last week at Illinois State. And I only saw a fraction of what we had circulating thru Q Lot.

2. The Pit parking lot on the south side of Hanson Field is underutilized. There were only 13 cars parked there.

When the Tailgating Committee does its review at the end of the season, it should explore other uses for that lot. It is currently "Reseved Parking" for Leatherneck Club members. But it does not appear that many of those people are using it.

Probably time to try something else down there. Perhaps that could be opened up as a "Family Tailgating Lot" open to anybody.

3. That recorded music that we have started playing on defensive 3rd downs for the past 2 games is more of a nuissance than anything else. Stop it!

Many times the Band was already playing when that recored music was turned on. Do we really need it when we have a live band in attendance ????

4. Perhaps the biggest blunder of the day was when the PA Announcer was introducing the 22 seniors of the Marching Leathernecks at the end of the halftime show.

That darn recorded music suddenly came on from the north endzone speakers while the list of names was still being read. It really distracted from honoring those band seniors.

It just seemed like a very rude gesture.

5. The numbers on the scoreboard were very difficult to read when the sun was shining on the scoreboard.

Another Nov 12th Game Day observation:

The statue of Rocky at the north end of Hanson Field was painted in military camoflauge. There was a orange "Peach Blossom" mop head on top of Rocky's head. And there were 2 American flags in front of Rocky.

Nice tribute by the Vet's Club.

Wondering how much truth there is to the rumor that the Marine Corps is considering pulling our use of Leathernecks? Hear they are torqued that we don't have our act in gear, part of which I guess is the flag pole issue the University hasn't replaced at the football stadium.

I questioned the absence of the flagpole back in August when the new turf was put down.

The old flagpole was certainly in need of replacement as the upper part of it was bent.

But I was shocked to find out that it was not replaced before our season started. Someone sure did drop the ball there.

At least at yesterday's "Military Appreciation Day", there was a big flag displayed at the south end courtesy of the Macomb Fire Dept and one of its aerial trucks.

On another note: How long as it been since there has been a flag flying on the flagpole in front of Western Hall ????? Has to be at least 20 years if not longer.

I think we should pursue a scaled down replica of the Iwo Jima Memorial. I am serious. Sure is classier than a plain old flagpole. It would be a nice way to cap off the renovation of Hanson Field. There are several of them around the country at various military bases, Marine Military Academy, etc. If the government keeps closing bases down, one might be free for the taking.

Great idea, Seal Hall!

A.D. Van Alstine should pursue this.
