In the recruiting process, do colleges rely on any sort of standardized physical testing of potential recruits? Maybe the tests would be similar to what the NFL does in the NFL Combine process. Kids can't get into college period without some standardized ACT or SAT testing so I don't see a problem with physically testing those kids who might be getting their college education for nothing.

There are recruiting combines held all over the country in the summer and fall. The athletes go through all of the physical tests you see at the NFL combine to get a rough estimate of their athletic ability.

Catch212, any idea about what percentage of nationwide division I college football players actually participated in a combine? Any info on WIU's current roster percentage?

I would assume just about every player with D-1 aspirations goes through at least one scouting combine. Most programs have scouts crawling all over these things and it's a good way to meet recruits. Some kid from Washington without a bunch of national hype could stand out to an SEC coach and get in with that program, for example.

As for the results, I'm not sure. Some of these camps have websites that post their results directly, others just make their information available to recruiting databases such as ESPN, Rivals, etc. I think the ESPN recruiting page is the best bet to find info on some lesser-known players. Some of the guys they have up are no more than D-3 talent. Chances are you won't find many of our recruits on there just yet, though. Maybe trying googling "name of recruit" + "combine results." something like that
