Hey Leatherneck Fans!

Our big football rivalry game will be this Saturday (November 5) when we play at Illinois State.

There is always a big crowd of Western fans at this road game--even in that crappy season of 2009.

Last year we beat them in that shoot-out game 65-38 at Hanson Field.

This year, Illinois State is fighting for a play-off bid.

Illinois State has been struggling in attendance this season. They only had 6,000 for their home game with Indiana State on October 22.

But our game will be their "Family Weekend" game. So the crowd will be bigger.

And since their south endzone seating was condemned this year, their seating capacity has been reduced.

The Western Alumni Association will be at this game. They will have a tent set up in the tailgating area. They will be serving a pre-game lunch.

You can order tickets for the game and for the lunch from the Alumni Association. So you can get your tickets ahead of time and avoid the rush at the ticket booth.

So even though this season is not going as we had hoped, we can still salvage some respect by knocking off those Redbirds.

Anyone in the Central Illinois area (Peoria/Bloomington) should make an effort to get to this game and support the team!

The Peoria Journal-Star mentioned in their Tuesday edition that they are only a few tickets left for this Saturday's game at Illinois State.

Western fans planning to attend the game should act fast. Contact the Western Alumni Association. They have game tickets as well as lunch tickets.

Game day forecast is looking good for early November: low 60's. Rain is suppose to stay away in the afternoon.

Visiting fans at ISU sit in Section G on the east side of the field. This is towards the north end.

The Western team will be right in front of us. Let's fill Section G with Western fans!

The Peoria Journal-Star reported today that all of the Reserved and General Admission tickets for the game at Illinois State have been sold.

ISU is now selling Standing Room Only tickets for Saturday's big game in Normal.

Since their south endzone grandstand has been condemned, seating capacity has been reduced to approx 8,500.

Illinois State leading rusher Ashton Leggett and reserve wide receiver Milton Colbert will sit out the first half of Saturday’s 1 p.m. game against Western Illinois at Hancock Stadium.

Leggett and Colbert both left the Redbird bench during a third-quarter skirmish last Saturday in a 38-30 win over Southern Illinois. Leggett was ejected by the officiating crew, but Colbert was not.

“We’re going to sit them for a half. It’s clearly stated you cannot come off the bench,” ISU coach Brock Spack said. “I appreciate their willingness to want to help their teammates, but they can’t leave our sideline. No punches were thrown by either player, and we are thankful for that.”

Spack indicated the ruling came from him and was not a Missouri Valley Football Conference sanction.

Leggett’s 907 yards rushing rank third in the Valley.

Nice opprtunity to go in there with an attitude and get a road win. These guys look at this game as a gimme. Time to strap it on and start messing up people's playoff hopes. Gotta show up, though. Both players and coaching staff.

Illinois State is our closest as well as oldest rival in football.

It is always good to knock them off. Even more so this year when they are nationally ranked and fighting for a playoff bid.

Forecast for Saturday is looking good: mostly sunny and low 60's in the afternoon.

We need to fill up Section G with Leatherneck fans. Section G is the northernmost section on the east side of the field. That is the designated "Visitors Section". But it is General Admission which means that anyone can sit there.

This game will be ISU's "Family Weekend" game. And seating at the stadium has been reduced to only 8,500 for this year due to portions of the stadium being declared "structurally unfit".

So we need to arrive early and take control of Section G. The Western bench will be right in front of us. And I hear that the Western cheerleaders will be there as well to help support the team.

We need a win!

The Western Alumni Association has sold out its allotment of tickets for the game at Illinois State University.

Fans still wanting to attend this game can still get Standing Room Only tickets thru ISU Athletics:

Fans can still order the pre-game lunch that the Alumni Association will be serving. They will have a tent in the Tailgating area (next to the practice fields). Contact the Western Alumni Association.

Remember: due to the south endzone seating being condemned over the summer, the seating capacity at ISU has been reduced to 8,500.

Western fans will be sitting in Section G. That is the north section of the east side bleachers.

Game day forecast for Saturday, November 5:

Sunny, breezy, and 62!

Sounds perfect!

We will be sitting on the east side of the field, so we should be in the sun all afternoon. Better bring some sunscreen!

Western fans are being asked to wear Purple at the game on Saturday.

Game day is here!

Forecast sounds great: Sunny, Breezy, and 63.

Safe travels to all driving to Illinois State for today's game. We sold out all the tickets that we had to sell. So there should be a good Western crowd.

Wear Purple!
