The description of the proposed west grandstand as given by Neckfansince71 sounds very nice.

But the unknown here is the time frame for its completion.

When the east side renovation was done in 2007, the "thinking" at that time was that the west side would be done in time for the 2009 season.

We are now into our third year beyond that original completion date with no sign that anything will be starting up soon.

If the new grandstand will not be completed soon, we will have to look at doing what we can to improve what we have.

The original 1950 grandstand is starting to crumble away. The stairs are the main focus right now. There are truly some safety concerns that we will need to address if no replacement grandstand is in the works soon.

The 2011 football season ends on November 19th.

If the westside grandstand will be used again in 2012, some improvements must be made over the spring/summer of 2012.

We don't want a repeat of what happened to QU Stadium. Quincy University's failure to maintain its grandstand forced most of it to be closed off for seating.

Quincy University now plays its football games at Quincy High School.

If the proposed west side renovation is several years in the future, then we must do some maintenance work on what we now have so that it can continue to be used.

The concrete on the stairways is crumbling away--creating a safety concern.

And the wooden benches in Sections A, B, F, and G need immediate repair.

The whole place could use a coat of purple paint.

The backside storage area under the grandstand needs to remedied. Right now, it presents a very poor view.

Here is a picture showing the bleachers on the football side of QU Stadium in all of their glory!

If we are not careful at Western, our west grandstand could resemble this in a few years.

The baseball side of QU Stadium has been maintained better than the football side.

The Quincy Gems (a summer collegiate baseball team) and the Quincy University Hawks play their home baseball games at QU Stadium.

Wow, mother nature has been a bit harsh to QU football stadium. I would imagine all the freezing and thawing is not too good on that concrete. Hopefully, some improvements are coming soon.

Not too related, but where did the Macomb entry (Macs?) in CICL play their games back in the 70s? I think I saw them play in Galesburg a time or two.

The Macomb Macs played in the Central Illinois Collegiate League (CICL) from 1969-1974. The CICL is now called the Prospect League.

I don't know where they played their home games. But I would guess that the games were played on Western's field.
