It was a couple of weeks ago and the story said basically that the President's office confirmed receiving two letters from the NCAA re: Title IX violations. It said that the NCAA had "probable cause" to believe that violations had taken place and they were going to commence an investigation. That is all I know and I have not heard anything more. Hopefully, someone else on this board can supply us with some news. I remember a post awhile back refering to the possibility, but noone- including myself- asked about it. Can you- or someone else in the know-expalin what's going on, FootballFan?

As far as the women's possible name change, I too would like to hear what's going with that issue.

RE: New Winds Asst BB Coach

Dear 712: Sometime ago, I asked about the Westerwind name change. Since your signature is "One Western All Leathernecks?" then I thought it would be appropriate to ask you this question. President Al said that he would make a decision right after the first of the year. You said, "He is waiting until the girls season is over". Ok, now everything is over, so what is the hold up? We all know that WIU is being investigated by the NCAA for Title IX violations, but does that, in of itself, have anything to do with uniting all sports undo the "Leatherneck" banner? I would very much appreciate your explanation on this matter. After seeing the outfit she was wearing when Centurary played here last year. She is definately worth the price of admission to look at. Although I don't see Coach Crane letting her wear an outfit like that.

I see on the WIU website Cowgill and Schultze are the only assistant coaches listed. Are Castens and Tyo leaving?

New Winds Asst BB Coach

Cowgill joins Westerwinds coaching staff!!

Courtesy: Western Illinois Athletics
Release: 06/03/2008

K.C.
