I would take a Traivs Glasford though. We need more speed in the backfield this year.

RE: Happy News in Down Times

He's the type of back we need. He's shifty, fast, and can still finish a run. Like an Aaron Stecker or Charles Tharp type that can break away from the pack (you could also say Travis Glasford, but I'm shooting higher). He and Marva Carley (6ft 200+) could be a great complement for one another and the fact that they both have 3 years of eligibility left is great (if they do in fact work together and neither leaves).

We have a QB (and a backup with experience), we have the receivers (Lito's a stud), and now we hopefully have a backfield. I know the O-Line was a work in progress last year, but if everyone stays they're going to be much much better. A year of playing together, an off season of getting stronger, and then the spring and preseason to prepare. Let's cross our fingers!!!!!!!!!

The Defense is whole different write-up.....

Finally, I believe this will help in our recruiting and would be even bigger if we didn't have the current coaching situation.
RE: Happy News in Down Times

He started the first four games for a good Michigan State team last year.

http://www.mlive.com/spartans/index.ssf/2009/10/running_backs_ray_and_anderson.html

He can only help.

RE: Happy News in Down Times

Who is Caulton Ray??? Haven't heard of him. I assume he is dropping down from a FBS school.

Happy News in Down Times

I've been checking the student directory on www.wiu.edu the last two weeks and have found a new name. Caulton Ray is now listed as a Western Illinois Student (General Studies). Let's hope he stays on the team and helps us get back to the top of the MVFC.

If he's enrolled as a student I believe this means he's already accepted a scholarship. With that being the case, he can't up and leave (this comment is in regards to the coaching situation) without loosing a year of eligibility and he obviously went down to FCS to avoid that from happening (if this is not the case please let me know, but I believe that happened to Will Peterson/William James when he left Michigan for YSU and then switched to WIU).
