The hypocrisy on this board is incredible. When Randy Ball was very successfully putting together championship teams with "rejects" and "troubled kids" everybody thought it was the greatest thing since sliced bread. Believe it or not, not all 18 to 22 year old young men make the exactly right decision at every moment in their life. And believe it or not some of these young men grow up in an environment that does very little teaching in the way of what is and is not acceptable. The opportunity to come to college, and work with people of different backgrounds can make a tremendous difference in their behavior and ultimately their life. I played with a lot of guys that would have been considered "troubled kids" at one time or another in their life. Many of them are now living productive lives and are solid citizens because they were given the opportunity to come to Macomb and see a different way of living and interacting with others. We (WIU football players) have historically made some bonehead mistakes, and have been appropriately punished and chastised for doing that. However one of the great results of our program over the last 20 years is the number of quality men that have been turned out due to the effort of their teammates and coaches. While everyone is entitled to their opinion, however misinformed it might be, I cannot sit by and let character attacks on former Leathernecks go unanswered. We have all made mistakes, plenty of them, but their have been very few bad character kids that stuck with the program to the end of their eligibility. Most of the scumbags are run off by other players long before they get to the end. We are all Leathernecks and it serves no productive purpose in assassinating any former player's character on this board.

RE: Ryan Perrilloux???

USA TODAY today said the Jacksonville State coach asked LSU for permission to talk to the QB. Will Peterson comes to mind who is now known as Will James in the NFL

Yes, but that can be offset by the acquisiton of the Campbell twins - who really let us down in the "Snow Bowl". They were "troubled kids".....and they stayed that way.

RE: Ryan Perrilloux???

Great skill-Bad attitude=Zero. One of the intangibles that I believe will make the 2008 team great, is the "Team Spirit". These are a bunch of great guys with great attitudes, that are working together to accomplish great things. There is not the past pettiness and ME-ism. Guys are responsible, and responsible for one another. The last thing we need is a distraction, like a Ryan, to turn the focus from the team to an individual. The sense of "We" on the team is amazing. A strong team is much more capable than strong individual stars!

RE: Ryan Perrilloux???

While it may be a laughable idea, I remember the days when Coach P took some chances on some kids that had a history of getting in trouble. If he couldn't stay out of trouble at a school like LSU that was contending for a National Title, there is no way he would act like a saint here.

RE: Ryan Perrilloux???

This is downright laughable.

We don't need a known trouble-maker who couldn't comply with team rules.

Plus, I don't feel that we have a quarterback "problem".

RE: Ryan Perrilloux???

come on. I know many might not like this idea because he has been in trouble a lot, but our O would be much better if WIU could bring in Ryan Perrilloux from LSU. WIth him and Herb, and that D WIU would be a very dangerous team.
