Good journalistic instincts.

RE: New D Cord Already Gone

Also an article by the Western Courier: http://www.westerncourier.com/sports/new-football-coordinator-quits/article_6d6dcd1a-4786-11e1-8952-001a4bcf6878.html

Not really any new information, but I did notice that on the front page of the printed version of today's Courier, there was a bright yellow banner at the top of the page saying something like "New Defensive Coordinator Jumps Ship" and directing people to the article in the sports section.

RE: New D Cord Already Gone

They did have an offical press relase on the website and I know it was still on their yesterday.

According to his interview, I think he said he was out recruiting in the Chicago area he first days on the job.

I don't know if a defensive position job at Ga Southern is a better job than the DC job at Western. I wouldn't think so, unless Ga Southern pays more. I agree he had to know he had ailing in-laws when he accepted the job. Anyway time to move on and hope Coach does get someone else hired asap.

RE: New D Cord Already Gone

One would assume it's Hayden Northern?

RE: New D Cord Already Gone

Kevin Corless has shown that his word means nothing.

He must think that people in west-central Illinois are dumb hayseeds who will believe anything.

His reason for leaving (ailing in-laws) cannot be a new development.

I think that we all know what the real reason for his backing-out of his contract: he was offered a "better" position at Georgia Southern.

Georgia Southern just finished 3rd in the FCS. They made it to the semi-finals and hosted two playoff games. Their stadium is much nicer than Hanson Field.

I am hearing that we will be gettiing an in-coming freshman in the fall that will be competing for quarterback. Sounds like he will be in the running for the starting spot.

RE: New D Cord Already Gone

Agree with StLouN. and Catch212. That happens in life. What really troubles me is this: If I go to the official athletic site, I find no press release there about it as of this moment in time. Nor do I find any press release in the archives announcing his hiring in the first place. If there was one in the archives, was it removed for some reason? Or, and I hope this is not the case, but maybe there was an oversight and no announcement of his hiring was ever posted there and he felt slighted? Now maybe things have to happen this way being so close to signing day, but if that is the case, it just does not sit too well with me. Thank God for the McDonough Voice and other media sites for keeping things in the open so we and the rest of the world can attempt to make sense of it all. There (as of this moment), you will find an announcement about the initial DC hiring, a nice interview with him, and the resignation announcement today.

RE: New D Cord Already Gone

<a href="http://www.mcdonoughvoice.com/newsnow/x1627372268/Newly-hired-WIU-defensive-coordinator-resigns" target=_"blank" class="SmlLinks">http://www.mcdonoughvoice.com/newsnow/x1627372268/Newly-hired-WIU-defensive-coordinator-resigns

News has been scrubbed from the WIU Athletics site as well...

RE: New D Cord Already Gone

Considering he never saw the players on or off the field, I doubt that was the problem. WIU was just a convenient way to leverage his way out of his old job, knowing that he was going south before he even took the job at WIU.

RE: New D Cord Already Gone

Hopefully he didn't arive in Macomb and see what a mess he would have to clean up. You don't take a job so close to signing day then just up and leave. If he has personal things to take care of I can understand that. But if that's the situation he shouldn't have taken the job to begin with. Let's hope they land somebody a little bit more respectable than this clown.

RE: New D Cord Already Gone

Sorry! Don't take the position and leave at a critical time for the program. Couldn't he have just stayed on another week to get us through signing day? You give a guy a job, put your full trust in him, and then he jets a month later? He must have literally been looking for another job the moment he took the job with WIU. I don't mean to dismiss his personal obligations, but its not like he didn't know about this when he took the job. Lets hope we can find someone with more integrity to take the DC position.

RE: New D Cord Already Gone

Kipp, thanks for the info, put to bed alot of needless speculation I'm sure. Makes me wonder why he took the job in the first place, but that is water under the bridge now. Too bad he did sound like a good one and hopefully it doesn't hurt recruiting too much and Hendrickson can find someone else fast.

RE: New D Cord Already Gone

Yeah, timing is bad... Kevin Corless resigned and took a "lesser" defensive assistant position at Georgia Southern. He did this to be closer to his family, and I believe his wife's parents are in ailing health.

I can't say for certain, but I believe that's what was said. If that's the case, you can't fault the man for that. It's too bad, he's a really solid def. coach and I think would've fit in well. Hopefully, we'll get the new "DC" in soon.

RE: New D Cord Already Gone

Where did he go?

New D Cord Already Gone

Rumor has it the new d cord has already moved on to greener pasture.
