Originally called astroplay. I think 3D is one of the variations. I think the 3D version is fairly new.

<a href="http://www.astroturfusa.com/sport/football.html" target=_"blank" class="SmlLinks">http://www.astroturfusa.com/sport/football.html

Avatar...yes, much better

RE: This is intimidating

3D turf huh? Is the 3D the stuff you were originally talking about? Is it more advanced than FieldTurf?

Your Avatar is tough. But your otherone was amusing. I was trying to go for whimsical and amusing however I felt my Boris and Natasha looked just plain silly. Had to revert back.

RE: This is intimidating

That's good stuff 101 and probably the most used. WIU has played on all kinds so the coaches would know what is best. Fieldturf even has a finance plan.
Heres an article from 2004. I still am pretty sure it's close to a million with prep included.
Ind St. has the gameday 3D grass as well as the U of I. ISU has the stuff you're talking about. I think Wisc. does, too.

<a href="http://www.i-aa.org/article.asp?articleid=55571" target=_"blank" class="SmlLinks">http://www.i-aa.org/article.asp?articleid=55571

BTW, my avatar is the coolest now.

RE: This is intimidating

pit, i know u were kidding, just pulling your leg.

RE: This is intimidating

I used to not be an advocate of astroturf but I do like the new stuff. I have a favorable opinion of FieldTurf.

I really like the look of the field at Rutgers Stadium. I especially like how the FieldTurf has a slight two tone alternating hues every five yards. This gives an illusion of mowing different dirrections to simulate real grass. Looks good.

RE: This is intimidating

Remember your neighbor's porch back in '82. Yeah, like that. I dont know why they still have it with all of the fans they get and the money they have. Its a major events arena, so maybe you can't put stuff over the top of the good kind. I dont know. A bison fan might show up on here and fill us in. I thought they were talking about it over on their forum and how someone from the visiting team always gets hurt. I just really like the new stuff. Like I said, I just see so much more use out of turf. Back when WIU used to make the playoffs, the condition of the field was pretty bad at times. The university could get a lot more use out of it as well as Macomb High and the community in general. Alot of high schools throughout the country play at their local college stadium. Obviously, you have to limit the amount of activity on the natural grass.

<a href="http://www.bisonville.com/forum/index.php" target=_"blank" class="SmlLinks">http://www.bisonville.com/forum/index.php

RE: This is intimidating

Hey PIT What is the surface in the Fargo Dome? I am asuming it is the same "old school" green matted carpet type garbage that is in the UNI Dome.

The new turf that is available is really nice. Pains me to say this but I think ISU(red) has the nicest playing surface in the Gateway. I like natural grass but it is inevitable that by the end of the season the field is in rough shape.

RE: This is intimidating

I know, DOG. I was kidding. That's why I put it in the smack talk. They talk about how tough the dome can be. It's the concrete playing surface that is intimidating.

RE: This is intimidating

pit, the only slab that's intimidating is the one they lay you out on at the morgue!

it's all a mind set. don't believe you'll lose before a game, don't be intimidated.

deep breath, positive thoughts, HMMMMMMMMMMM.............

RE: This is intimidating

I forgot to mention what I think is intimidating.
